Coaching Philosophy
Hockey is a team sport but it’s no secret that each player must succeed in his or her own skills to stay in the game and pursue their dreams. That’s where Kerry comes in. She believes in thinking outside the box to get her students to push themselves to their fullest skating potential.
Kerry works hard to ensure her athletes are pushing their boundaries and conquering their fears, but most importantly, having fun. Each student is unique, and she pinpoints what it takes to motivate them to excel. She formulates a game plan to keep the player developing at a steady pace, avoid injuries, and become a well-rounded athlete.
By improving one’s skating skills, a player may build confidence, reduce the likelihood of injury and gel better with one’s team. Whether the student is just learning how to skate or is a seasoned professional, skating skills are one of the most important fundamentals of the sport ― there is always room for improvement.
Kerry not only helps her players on the ice, but she takes the time to get to know her students’ training routines off the ice as well. She communicates with her players and their parents and stresses the importance of a proper training schedule, nutrition program, sleep habits, and education.
Kerry takes pride in helping her students be the best they can possibly be! She is quick to remind the players this is "Hard Work" and reminds them, if it was easy everyone would be in the NHL!
